Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Argent and Buff on the first an ear of wheat and a spit, point in chief, Azure. Attached below the shield a Silver scroll inscribed "LA SOUTIEN DE LA VIE" in Black letters.

Symbolism
Buff is the color of the Quartermaster Corps. The spit and ear of wheat allude to the nature of activities of the 94th Quartermaster Battalion (Bakery), the unit's original designation. The motto translates to "The Staff of Life."

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 94th Quartermaster Battalion on 19 October 1962. It was redesignated for the 94th Supply and Service Battalion on 23 August 1966. The insignia was redesignated for the 94th Support Battalion with the description and symbolism updated on 7 October 2004.

Symbolism

Shield

Crest

The coliseum in Rome represents the World War II campaign streamers the unit earned in Italy. The lion holding a Roman Spatha represents strength, honor, and courage. It is red to commemorate the Meritorious Unit Commendation the unit earned in Vietnam. The two laurel branches highlight the number of Vietnam campaign streamers awarded the unit. Laurel also symbolizes honor and high achievement.

Background
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 94th Quartermaster Battalion on 28 April 1942. It was rescinded on 30 June 1975. The insignia was reinstated and redesignated for the 94th Support Battalion with symbolism revised on 7 October 2004. It was amended to include a crest on 19 April 2006.
